4th Indo-German Environmental Forum to be held in Delhi on Tuesday

India and Germany are convening the 4th Indo-German Environmental Forum in New Delhi on Tuesday to deepen bilateral cooperation on global climate policy, environmental protection, and sustainable economic growth. Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav and German Minister Carsten Schneider will co-chair the high-level summit. Operating under the official theme "Together For More Resilience," the forum stands as the principal diplomatic mechanism for environmental dialogue between the two nations.

First established in 2008, the Indo-German Environmental Forum serves as the highest-level bilateral engagement on climate policy between New Delhi and Berlin. The current edition is organized by India's Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change in association with the Asia-Pacific Committee of German Business along with major Indian trade and industry associations.

According to an official statement released by the environment ministry on Monday, Yadav and Schneider will lead discussions designed to share policy experiences and advance practical green initiatives. The agenda features targeted thematic sessions focused on accelerating low-carbon industries, protecting biodiversity in wetlands, mountain regions, and forests, and adopting resource efficiency and circular economy frameworks as core business models. Additional sessions will highlight sustainable finance mechanisms, green skills training, and private sector investment mobilization.

Officials noted that the event provides a vital platform for multi-stakeholder exchanges among government leaders, private sector executives, environmental think tanks, and civil society groups. Participants representing various governmental ministries, corporate entities, research institutions, and non-governmental organizations from both India and Germany are scheduled to attend.

The forum arrives amid expanding trade relations and industrial linkages between India and Germany, particularly in green technology and renewable infrastructure. Ahead of Tuesday's main forum, three joint working groups focusing specifically on climate change, biodiversity, and the circular economy met earlier this year to establish foundational frameworks for bilateral cooperation. The discussions are expected to generate concrete pathways for technical collaboration and sustainable financial investments moving forward.
