Bhu Bharati Re‑Survey to Resolve Telangana Land Disputes, Minister Says

Telangana Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy announced on Monday that the ongoing Bhu Bharati resurvey initiative will resolve long-standing land disputes across the state, providing clarity and security to farmers and landowners. Speaking at Narayanapur in Kesamudram mandal, Mahabubabad district, where he distributed Bhu Aadhaar-linked pattadar passbooks to 780 farmers covering 1,378 acres, Reddy highlighted the urgency of the resurvey, noting that the last comprehensive land survey in Telangana was conducted over 125 years ago. He criticized successive governments in undivided Andhra Pradesh and the previous Telangana administration for failing to undertake such a critical exercise.

The Bhu Bharati resurvey is being carried out down to the last inch of land, with pattadar passbooks now featuring QR codes and detailed maps to enhance transparency and reduce disputes. This initiative aims to address decades-old conflicts over land ownership, particularly in areas like Narayanapur, where nearly 150 acres of assigned land has been cultivated by families for generations. Reddy assured that the government would resolve these issues promptly, restoring confidence among the farming community.

During a subsequent review of the Revenue and Housing departments at the Mahabubabad Collectorate, Reddy, accompanied by Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Seethakka, expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of revenue officials. He directed them to adhere strictly to their duties and warned that those causing inconvenience to the public would face strict action. Reddy also cautioned officials against making decisions that contradict established rules, particularly concerning the 22-A prohibited list and other land-related matters.

The Minister raised concerns about reports that some Tahsildars were falsely citing deputation to avoid attending review meetings convened by elected representatives. He emphasized the importance of accountability and urged officials to prioritize public service over procedural lapses.

The Bhu Bharati resurvey, launched by the Telangana government, represents a significant step toward modernizing land records and resolving historical grievances. By leveraging technology such as QR codes and digital mapping, the initiative seeks to create a more reliable and transparent land administration system in Telangana.
