Bilawal Bhutto Denies Engagement Rumors, Calls for Focus on Real Issues

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has categorically denied rumors circulating on social media about the finalization of his engagement. Speaking in a video statement, Bilawal dismissed claims that he is engaged to Princess Gloria of Thurn and Taxis, a European noblewoman. “I want to clarify that nothing of this sort has happened, nor do I know any Princess Gloria,” he stated.

The denial follows reports suggesting that Bilawal and his father, President Asif Ali Zardari, are in Vienna for discussions with the family of a prospective bride. Bilawal attributed these rumors to deliberate attempts to divert public attention from pressing national issues. “Social media has already finalised my marriage talks, engagement and wedding,” he said. “These spectacles are hyped up to distract from real concerns.”

Bilawal emphasized that any personal decisions regarding his marriage would be announced by his family. “If any such decision is made, the announcement will come directly from my family,” he said. “Until then, please focus on the real issues and ignore these social media spectacles.”

The PPP leader also addressed the recent deaths of 14 infants at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad. He criticized the government’s handling of the hospital, questioning the competence of officials who, he claimed, cannot manage even a single hospital while proposing to divide the country into 30 provinces. “A minister who wants to become the Gorbachev of Pakistan cannot even manage a single hospital,” Bilawal remarked.

Additionally, Bilawal took aim at a Punjab minister’s remarks about creating new provinces, asserting that such discussions should take place in the Sindh Assembly. “The assembly that was the first to join Pakistan is where this decision will be made,” he said. “Matters like this cannot be decided on the streets or at a business forum in Lahore.”

Bilawal’s statements come amid heightened political activity as the PPP continues to navigate domestic challenges, including healthcare crises and debates over provincial governance.
