EsDeeKid mystery no problem for fans after 'insane' All Points East set

EsDeeKid, the masked British rapper known for his Scouse accent and medieval-inspired aesthetic, performed at the All Points East festival in London over the weekend. The event marked one of his few appearances in the UK this summer. Despite the mystery surrounding his identity, fans continue to turn out in large numbers.
The rapper, who performs with only his eyes visible, first gained attention last year when speculation arose that he might be American actor Timothée Chalamet. Chalamet addressed the rumors in December by appearing in a music video with EsDeeKid, effectively ending widespread speculation. Since then, the mystery has only deepened his appeal.
Festivalgoers described EsDeeKid’s performance as "absolutely insane" with "constant energy." One attendee, Isaac, expressed belief that the rapper is "some guy from Liverpool," adding, "If he is, that's exactly what I rate." Another fan, Zari, called his presence "very mysterious," noting that this quality draws people in. James, who works in event promotion, praised the rapper’s strategy, saying, "Giving yourself an aesthetic, something to cling to, makes you stand out in the music industry."
EsDeeKid’s debut album, *Rebel*, released in June 2025, initially charted at number 82 on the UK Official Albums Chart but has since climbed to number eight. It also peaked at number 23 on the US Billboard 200. His music has resonated widely, with Dazed noting that "half of Europe [is] rapping in his distinctive Scouse accent." Spotify streams have surged, and multiple tracks from his debut mixtape have become TikTok anthems.
Danil Boparai, content strategy director at Dazed, praised EsDeeKid’s authenticity and raw energy. "He brings a very raw energy which you see with his reluctance to do much press," Boparai said. "No one knows much about him; it's all about the music for him." He also highlighted the rapper’s unique medieval-inspired fashion and stage presence, such as performing atop a castle at All Points East.
EsDeeKid recently announced a 48-date tour, *Council House Rat*, spanning Europe, the US, and the UK. The North American leg begins in September, concluding with two hometown shows in Liverpool in December.
The rapper’s anonymity remains a key part of his brand. Boparai emphasized that EsDeeKid understands the internet’s role in modern music, saying, "He lets his music do the speaking for him." His refusal to alter his accent or reveal his identity has contributed to his authentic appeal.
As EsDeeKid continues to rise, fans and industry observers alike suggest that his mystery, combined with his distinctive sound, has solidified his place as a standout voice in Gen Z rap.
