Kaduna Police Raid Bandits’ Hideouts in Makarfi, Restoring Security

The Kaduna State Police Command, in partnership with the Kaduna State Vigilance Service, Makarfi, has successfully dismantled two suspected bandits’ hideouts in Makarfi Local Government Area. The operation, conducted Saturday morning, targeted enclaves around Durum and Danguzuri, including areas near the Kano State border. Public Relations Officer DSP Mansir Hassan confirmed the raids in a statement issued from Kaduna, noting that the action followed credible community intelligence.

Security operatives moved in at approximately 8:00 a.m., focusing on Rugar Mijin Goggo and Unguwar Maryamu in Danguzuri, where two structures believed to be used for abducting and holding victims were destroyed. Joint security patrols have continued in the affected zones as authorities work to restore full normalcy. The Kaduna State Police Command emphasized that the operation reflects ongoing efforts to curb banditry across northern Nigeria.

Commissioner of Police CP Rabiu Muhammad praised the cooperation of local residents and the bravery of the security personnel involved. Speaking from the state capital, Kaduna, he reiterated the command’s commitment to sustaining anti-banditry offensives and eliminating criminal networks in the region. Muhammad also urged the public to remain vigilant and provide timely, actionable information to security agencies to aid current and future operations.

The clearance comes amid broader insecurity challenges in Northwest Nigeria, where bandit gangs have carried out raids, kidnappings, and mass abductions. Kaduna State has been a recurring flashpoint, with Makarfi and neighboring local government areas frequently cited in security reports. The police statement did not report any casualties during the raid, and no arrests were immediately confirmed.

Security analysts note that community-based intelligence and inter-agency collaboration remain critical tools in countering rural banditry, especially in remote areas where law enforcement access is limited.
