Tottenham Hotspur sign Omar Marmoush on loan from Man City with permanent deal option

Tottenham Hotspur have bolstered their attacking options with the loan signing of Egyptian international Omar Marmoush from Manchester City. The Premier League club have secured the 27-year-old striker on a season-long deal with a compulsory £60 million purchase option that will take effect next summer. The move adds depth to Spurs' forward line following the arrivals of Mateus Fernandes, Sandro Tonali and Jan Paul van Hecke earlier this week.

Marmoush, who made his senior debut for Egypt in 2021, joins a growing list of new arrivals at Tottenham Stadium under head coach Roberto De Zerbi. He will reunite with former Manchester City teammate Savio, whose own transfer from City to Spurs was completed on Tuesday for an initial £75 million. “Tottenham Hotspur is one of the biggest clubs in England, if not the world, and the project was very attractive to me,” Marmoush said in a club statement. “I've spoken with the head coach [Roberto de Zerbi], I loved what he had to say and I'm sure our passion for the game will go very well together.”

The Egyptian striker arrives at Spurs with a mixed record at Manchester City. Signed from Eintracht Frankfurt for £59 million in January 2025, Marmoush has scored 16 goals in 62 appearances across all competitions. His City career has been shaped by the presence of Norwegian striker Erling Haaland, limiting Marmoush to just 13 league starts last season and a substitute role in recent fixtures, including the Community Shield defeat to Arsenal and the 2-1 league win over Bournemouth.

Tottenham’s spending this summer now exceeds £312 million across multiple signings and free transfers. Alongside Marmoush, they have added defensive reinforcements including Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson and Martin Dubravka at no cost. De Zerbi emphasized the club’s ambition under the new regime: “Omar is exactly the kind of player we want at this club — ambitious, hungry and determined to make a difference,” he said. “He has incredible attacking quality but what I also love is his desire to improve and to win. He brings pace, intelligence and a real threat in front of goal.”

The loan deal reflects both Tottenham’s financial strategy and their urgent need for goal-scoring options as the Premier League season approaches.
