Max Miller Implies He Has Damaging Info About Bernie Moreno Amid Custody Battle

Rep. Max Miller, R-Ohio, suggested on Wednesday that he possesses information potentially damaging to Sen. Bernie Moreno, R-Ohio, during a high-profile custody hearing in Cuyahoga County family court in Cleveland.

The hearing centered on a contentious dispute over the two-year-old daughter of Miller and his ex-wife, Emily Moreno, whose father is Sen. Moreno. Emily Moreno has accused Miller of serious misconduct, including holding a gun to her head, shoving her against a wall, and throwing scalding water at her. Miller has denied these allegations outright.

Despite the allegations and calls from at least six Republican senators—including his former father-in-law—to withdraw from his reelection campaign, Miller has remained in the race. The deadline to replace him on the ballot has already passed.

During the hearing, Mother Jones reporter Abby Vesoulis obtained a rare opportunity to question Miller directly. After initially declining to speak to the press and deferring inquiries to his attorney, Miller interrupted his lawyer’s remarks to deliver what appeared to be a veiled warning against Sen. Moreno.

“I was a part of that family for a very long time,” Miller stated. “There are certain things that he would like me to remain quiet about, and I respectfully have… because that’s not my business to share. But it’s politically motivated.”

Miller’s attorney went further, alleging that Sen. Moreno “hates Max and wants to destroy Max” and that the senator only became publicly critical of Miller after reporters began inquiring about his silence regarding his daughter’s allegations.

The custody case has drawn significant national attention, with over 2,000 pages of court and police records detailing the abuse allegations against Miller. These documents were uncovered by Vesoulis in the weeks leading up to Wednesday’s hearing.

Miller’s reelection campaign continues despite the ongoing legal and personal turmoil, with the primary deadline for ballot replacement having passed earlier this month. The case remains active in family court, with further developments pending.
